[MUSIC REVIEW] All The Sense MAGNITO Made In YAMA

Nigerian songs! At least they give you one reason to shake your head. I didn’t say nod, I said shake. However, while it may at times become unbearable, if we are patient enough, we might begin nodding instead of shaking our heads. A good example is Magnito’s Yama.

The sound begins with “ Everything dey yama, yama, yamayamayama, yama.” Let’s be honest, if you aren’t feeling the beat, you wouldn’t listen to that song for the next 5 seconds.

Then out of nowhere, Magnito jumps to the first verse. I was wowed! Such ingenuity. On the street of Lagos, “yamayama” literally means rubbish.

In a brilliant way, Magnito recycles rubbish into one of the realest rap lines we would ever see in Nigeria.

My favourite line? That would be “…if i send my account he’d send lil kesh(little cash). Tell me you didn’t find that creative?

He makes reasonable sentences using names of popular acts in Nigeria like DO2DTUN Olamide, Lil Kesh, Toolz, Small Doctor, Korede Bello, Adekunle Gold, Yemi Alade, Terry Apala and Kiss Daniel.

If incase his well thought out lyrics don’t steal your heart, the mad beat produced by Nigeria’s finest producer would atleast give you a reason to nod.

One friend called it an unserious song, yet he doesn’t speak about illicit money, sex or drugs.

For me its a brilliant attempt for someone who really isn’t in the mood to get serious and yet want to give good music.

My prediction, this song would play for a while.
