AZA: A Disappoint Collabo With Stars In It
Hey guys, I’m going to stick my hands into my detective jackets and bring out my special lens. It time to see whats wrong with Aza.
First of, much respect to Davido and his in house producer Fresh, in all honesty I don’t think any producer has come close to him this year, well maybe be Killertunes, so yes this is a quick shout out to Fresh for the good work so far.
Now to the main issue, the song Aza which is the latest effort from the Davido and his DMW camp and it features, the most sought after artiste at the moment Duncan Mighty and also Peruzzi, who has continue to prove himself as a worthy addition to the DMW camp.
To be sincere, when I heard that Davido and Duncan Mighty were going to give us a collabo, mehn, i was excited, i mean, as a fan of good music, who won’t be happy, after all Duncan Mighty might have given us if not the best collabo of the year then one of the best collabo of the year, with Fake Love and while we were still rocking that, the Port Harcourt 1st born also made some sweet music with Tiwa Savage Lova Lova just to mention a few. So yes the news about him and Davido working together gave me a good feeling till I listened to the song.
I don’t know who to blame for this, so I will just point out the good, the bad and my opinion about the song. First let me start with the beat and production, once again Fresh came through on this, he gave life to the song with his beat and some instrumentals he used were just brain bursting.
Duncan Mighty has to be my biggest disappointment in this song, I mean considering how he murdered Fake Love, killed Lova Lova and even Gimme Love which DJ Xlcusive featured him on was dope, it really sad that Duncan Mighty came in so poor on a song that has being seriously hyped by Davido and Duncan Mighty himself. To be honest i don’t think this was the right song Duncan Mighty should have featured on, i mean it very easy to forget that Duncan Mighty was on this song, as he didn’t stamp his authority.
Peruzzi once again taking advantage of every opportunity given to him, after winning my heart with his verse in Amaka, he is also the saving grace on this song, Peruzzi did everything right on this track, his verse is simply the best, as he shows once again that he is a very good writer and vocalist. He did exactly what I expected Duncan Mighty to have done on this song.
Of course Davido wasn’t disappointing too, as a matter of fact, I think he did too much, i felt he would have allowed Duncan Mighty or even Peruzzi take the chorus and he would have just stick to his verse and all the extra sweet ajasa he was adding but like I said he also didn’t disappoint.
My opinion: this song will have made more sense if Duncan Mighty had more space to deliver a classic verse and not that nonsense he did at the beginning, also the only saving grace for this song will have to be the video, only a good video will make us forget how not so good this song is. I will give the song 2/5 rating, this is nowhere near a hit song, just one of those songs that will fade in no time.
