Kizz Daniel: Signing New Acts. Too Early Too Soon?
It’s no longer news that Kizz Daniel now runs his own label Fly Boi Inc, but what some of you might have missed is that, he has signed two new artistes in person of Demmie Vee (Demola Awotungase) and Philkeyz (Philips Ahaiwe Chukwuja). No doubt these two are great addition to his team, Philkeyz is one of those coded talented producers who have produced songs for the likes of Omawunmi, Yemi Alade and even the most talked about Kizz Daniel collaboration with Wizkid, For You, was produced by him, so yes I say it’s a good sign.
If there is one thing I would say Nigeria Music Industry still lack, it’s the element of setting up a proper Record Label. No doubt we had and might still have some record label that has done pretty well, the mistake is that once a new artiste blow and drops an album, him sef go wan set up him own label and this most time kills the artiste faster.
I have always seen Demmie Vee has a great potential if properly nurtured and promoted, I mean, e no easy make an upcoming don do song with two legends already 2baba (Awesome God) and 9ice (Love Me Tender), it says a lot about his singing talent. So yes he would be fine addition to Fly Boi Inc considering the fact that Kizz Daniel himself is walking the step of becoming a legend but there is a BUT.
like I said in the past about Iyanya’s move to Mavin being a wrong move, same way I’m warning that Kizz Daniel signing of these two might be a wrong move too. I feel that as an artiste that is just getting his brand back on track, he should still focus more on his growth and just maybe after his album (No Bad Song) he might think of expanding. For someone that has and might still be in a label war, after luckily setting up Fly Boi Inc, dropping those hit songs should be is focus for now, expanding might just be him pushing his luck too far, let’s take Lil Kesh for example, Yagi hasn’t really been a success, Dammy Krane has been lost since leaving 2baba Hypertek and even 2baba career went down when he set up Hypertek and was beginning to sign Festac artiste and only regain his spot when he became the only artiste.
Being a boss of your own and being the boss of others are two different things and I honestly don’t think Kizz Daniel should worry himself with that, I. not saying this move won’t be a success just saying it might be too early too soon.
