[MUSIC REVIEW]: Falz And The Sweet Boy Concept
Since 2017 till this very moment, Falz has remained one of the most hardworking artistes in the country, yes he might not be getting the same attention the likes of Wizkid and Davido are getting but when it comes to his music, I can tell you authoritatively that Falz has done as much as these artistes.
Of course aside his sweet comic pattern of rap, we also know that Falz is a very talented person, as he is the first musician in the country to have won two AMVCA, something I’m still expecting to hear him brag about in his next song but like I said this hasn’t really given him that global popularity but maybe that might just change with his new single titled Sweet Boy.
Falz didn’t just release a song; Falz released what he termed as an anthem for every sweet boy out there and I’m proud to say, I’m one of them. He also opened a site where people can register and become a Sweet Boy by association and if you ask me this is a smart way of increasing his fan base.
To be honest, there is really nothing special about this song, don’t get me wrong, the song is a good song but it is definitely not a hit song. The popularity of this song has to do more with the purpose of the song not the content of the song, I mean Weh Done Sir, La Fete and Le Vrai Bahd Guy, are far better songs than this but due to the whole Sweet Boy Association thing, this song has gone far, that there is even a challenge for it. On a rating scale, I will give the song 6/10.
