WHAT’S COOKING IN LU’S KITCHEN?

Having a chef is a luxury, having a chef friend? Lord Jesus, that’s even more supercalifragilisticexpialidocious(yeah I know, you have probably never seen this word before, well… you are not alone, had to pick it off Google. It’s another word for amazing just in case you were wondering). Back to business, my chef friend, the focus for today is the super talented “Chef Lu”. I don’t want to go into the details of how we met but damn this bro can cook. There’s always something cooking in his kitchen. From Buffalo wings to noodles (hehe…not your regular noodles. Trust me, nothing on this guy’s menu is regular) to Starboy (bread and egg that schooled abroad. Don’t ask me, that’s what he told me) to his pasta to his chips or his Soups or gravy (I’m salivating writing this review).

The thing about ‘Lu’s meals is that you really don’t know what you are eating till you are done. You almost can’t tell what it’s made of till it’s somewhere trapped in your digestive system. He once made a macaroni dish with zobo (I was mind blown, I’m not even going to lie to you guys). No wonder it is said that “chefs don’t make mistakes, they create new dishes” (I don’t totally agree with that though. You can’t put that excuse out with salty food. No way! What bloody creation is that?!, New dish bawo!!!!) But hey c’mon, it’s Chef Lu we’re talking about. He goes beyond just cooking. He puts creativity and passion into his Cooking. You can literally taste the soul in the food. He deserves that banner outside Coldstone, Yaba-Lagos, that reads: …Eye-closing, lip-smacking… I can’t remember exactly how it goes but every single one of Lu’s dishes leave you with that expression.

His perfectly seasoned meals create emotions you can’t describe in you. His dishes are so spot on, the crisps or the spiciness or juiciness, everything is order even when he decides to Break the rules and make his own rules.

I’m not being nice because he’s my friend. That’s actually a reason for me to go hard on him but I have not had a meal that had an adequate quantity of regret or disappointment added as a vital ingredient to it. Presentation- ✓, Taste-✓, Customer service-✓, Creativity✓✓. He is an absolute risk taker. I don’t know how many people have tried cooking macaroni and beans but LU has.

The only thing I do have a problem with is the naming of his dishes. We have Starboy, O.B.O, Shaggi, a whole lot I can’t remember now. I really don’t know the inspiration behind them…it can’t possibly be the obvious because Lu is above “obvious”. My taste buds are always too pleased, then I eventually get carried away and boom! I forget to ask but now that it’s out here I would ask and maybe just maybe I’d come back and drop a little something here.

You could follow Lu @chefluoflagos on the gram. He’s into home services and delivery services too, so be sure to place an order of your choice ASAP.

Let me drop a little more pictures here for you just in case you’re are still contemplating.

All these talk on food has made me really hungry. I’d recommend Shaggi for today’s lunch. Guess what? You won’t know for sure what shaggi is if you don’t visit his page.
