It is very pleasing when legends and veteran like D’Banj still find a way to stay not just relevant in the music industry but also drops some hit singles to let us know they still have the fire in them. His latest single something for something definitely is a party starter.
No offence to other artistes but we know the music industry these days is dominated by the young blood, the likes of Davido, Wizkid and Olamide, they are the ones people majorly want to listen to, so when an artiste like D’Banj drops a song it has to be something worth listening to and to be honest majority of the songs D’Banj has dropped this year hasn’t really been anything worth listening to.
Aside from Issa Banger (ft. Slimcase and Mr Real) which he dropped very much early in the year (January), D’Banj hasn’t really been able to drop that song that will captivate the audience. Aside from the song he release for his wife (What You Want) after the death of their son, Action, Agidi and Senere, are the other songs he has dropped this year and these songs are nowhere near Issa Banger but after few weeks of teasing us with a new song featuring South African rapper, Cassper Nyovest, titled Something for Something, D’Banj has finally dropped another hit song and I have to say it was worth the wait.
I use the phrase “worth the wait” because the song was supposed drop some weeks back but D’Banj postpone it to mourn the legendary South African rapper who passed away, HHP and the following week he dropped Shake It (ft. Tiwa Savage) which I have to say is nowhere near this song, not saying it is a bad song but compare to this, this is a banger. The last time I heard D’Bbanj sound this good and captivating has to be 2017 when he dropped Emergency. I have to be honest this song also has some element of that song but it’s understandable since he decided to give us his afrobeat sound and the South African vibes that Cassper brought into the song just took the songs to another level.
D’Bbanj started the year with a banger (Issa Banger) and he ends the year with another banger with Something for Something, the rating will be 8/10.
